The Chief Financial Officer will play a critical role in charting the path to future growth and success at Adapture Renewables. As a member of the executive team and reporting to the CEO, the CFO oversees all the company’s financial activities and partners with the leadership team.

Our company is looking for a talented Chief Financial Officer to oversee the financial operations of the company and drive sustainable and profitable growth. The position will be based in our Oakland, California office. Adapture Renewables, Inc. is majority owned by KIRKBI – the private holding and investment company of the Kirk Kristiansen family founded to build a sustainable future for the LEGO® brand through generations.

Overview

The Chief Financial Officer will play a critical role in charting the path to future growth and success at Adapture Renewables. As a member of the executive team and reporting to the CEO, the CFO oversees all the company’s financial activities and partners with the leadership team to deliver on the company’s mission. The company is seeking a driven, detailed-oriented, and highly accountable individual that can deliver results with integrity, in addition to thinking “outside the financial box.” The CFO must be organizationally focused, partnering with all levels of employees to maintain a cohesive and collaborative culture.

Core Responsibilities

  • Serve on the executive team with responsibility for the financial side of risk management (financial reporting, budgeting, business cases, cash flow forecasting, etc.).
  • Oversee and implement the financial strategy of the company.
  • Help create the company’s annual and multi-year business plans.
  • Serve as a key participant on the company’s investment committee to evaluate project development and acquisition opportunities.
  • Lead and mentor the project finance team and the corporate finance team (Controlling, Accounting, Treasury, FP&A).
  • Direct the outreach to capital markets to raise tax equity and debt financing.
  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of financial reports to the executive team and the Board.
  • On an annual and ad hoc basis, establish with the Board project underwriting criteria, such as return thresholds, portfolio diversification, and appropriate investment risks.
  • Interface with advisors to advance company goals and objectives.
  • Provide strategic recommendations that are oriented towards achievement of short and long-term financial objectives, including creation of shareholder value.
  • Collaborate with Development & Origination and other teams, including Legal, on M&A, greenfield development, and financing work.
  • Maintain market awareness of industry trends, opportunities, and threats.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
  • MBA and/or CPA/CFA is highly desirable
  • At least ten years of relevant and proven financial leadership experience in the renewable energy industry (preferably in solar and wind
  • Established relationships in capital markets relevant to financing renewable energy projects in the U.S.
  • Value-based people leader, with strong teambuilding and communication skills
  • Open minded; experience working in a cross-cultural context a plus
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to assess economic conditions and anticipate the impact on the company
  • Working knowledge of forecasting and financial reporting
  • Ability to work with all levels of management
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a wiliness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate subordinates
